Malteser International in Kenya implemented M-Afya Project in Embakasi Sub-county, Nairobi with funding from UKAID through UK government’s Department of International Development (DFID) through the County Innovation Challenge Fund (CICF). The project duration was 21 months October 2015 to July 2017. M-Afya is a mobile technology project which aimed at increasing access and utilization of MNH services within the informal settlements of Embakasi, Nairobi. The project was implemented in ten (10) private health facilities and their surrounding catchment population in Embakasi East and West Sub-counties. The goals of the M-Afya project were to increase access to and utilization of quality maternal and new-born health services as well as strengthening health system management to deliver quality MNH services in Embakasi Sub-County.
- Design the research study and guide its implementation.
- Develop a framework and procedures for the monitoring and evaluation of project activities.
- Guide and coordinate the review of programme log frames including: review the achievement of process, intermediate and outcome indicators
- Review and provide feedback to programmes on the project progress
- Documentation, review and compilation of project processes, project findings, success stories, case studies, abstracts in collaboration with project teams.
- Draft tools and their revisions as well as data collection procedures in conjunction with the program team (e.g. logical framework, project performance tracking, indicators, data flow chart, M&E manuals)
- Conduct data quality checks at the supported health facilities
- Conduct data analysis and provide feedback to project team for decision making
- Preparation of reports on the findings and lessons learned from project innovations.
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly reports on project progress based on M-afya database reports and on project activities.
- Represent project during M&E strategic meetings; MOH, Partners, Donors
- Participate and offer technical support during project planning meetings, review meetings.
- Designed a research study that generated evidence showing that the M-Afya platform was effective in increasing access to MNH services among women of reproductive age Project.
- Designed the M&E frame work that guided all project M&E activities leading to evidence generation, documentation of project lessons learnt and best practices as well as articles for publishing.
- Tracked project data and conducted regular data analysis and findings were communicated regularly to the project team keeping the abreast of the achievements at any particular time
- Led in preparation of project reports
